we are
Literacy
Volunteers of Niagara County (LVNC) teaches
adults in Niagara County, New York
to read, write, speak and comprehend English. LVNC
is a county-wide organization dedicated to helping adults
improve their lives
through literacy. LVNC is an accredited literacy provider
with current accreditation from ProLiteracy America.
A registered 501
(c) (3) not-for-profit organization, the focus of LVNC is
free and confidential one-on-one tutoring for adults who
read at less than a fifth grade level and teaching English
as a second language to adults.
Our literacy services
are provided by a dedicated corps of well-trained volunteers.
Working with both basic literacy (BL) students and English
as a second language (ESL) students, our volunteer tutors
work one on one with students to help them reach their personal
reading goal.

Mission Statement
The mission of Literacy Volunteers of Niagara County (L VNC, Inc. is to teach adults to read, write, and speak English. L VNC supports community-based efforts that enable adults to gain the literacy skills necessary to reach their potential as individuals, parents, workers, and citizens.
Vision Statement
Our vision is for Literacy Volunteers of Niagara County to be an essential community partner in providing effective literacy services to adults with the broader goal of helping them to obtain economic opportunity and security, social justice, and human dignity.
