Support Literacy Volunteers of Niagara County

All services at LVNC are provided free of charge. These services include student instruction, our two libraries of literacy materials, the computer labs, and training for tutors. LVNC is supported by grants from the NYS Department of Education and from contributions from area businesses and individuals.

To offer the quality services our students and tutors deserve is expensive and getting more-so every day. Keeping pace with the technology that allows us to provide high quality services is a never-ending challenge. Contributions from the community help guarantee that we will be here to provide these services as long as they are needed. Because we are a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization, contributions are tax-deductible.

How can you help?

  • Unrestricted Contributions: Unrestricted gifts of cash, securities, and stock are always welcome, in any amount. Generally these dollars are used to help us reach and support those who need our services.

We are currently unable to accept donations on-line. Please print off this page and return it with your check made out to Literacy Volunteers of Niagara County,
23 East Avenue Lockport, New York 14094.

  • Restricted Contributions: You may choose to make a restricted gift in support of a specific program or area of interest at Literacy Volunteers. Your gift will be used in accordance with your wishes and will not be used for general operating support unless that is your wish. To discuss the parameters of making a restricted gift to LVNC, please contact the Executive Director.
  • Planned Gifts: Talk with your estate planner, accountant, or attorney about ways in which you can make a lasting impact on LVNC with a planned gift. A gift through your will can have a tremendous, long term effect on Literacy Volunteers of Niagara County. Charitable gift annuities, life insurance policies, and numerous other planned giving vehicles are available for legacy giving. LVNC is a partner with the WNY Leave a Legacy organization which can provide you with additional information about planned giving. They can be reached at their web site at www.leavealegacywny.org.
  • Vehicle Donations: If you have a car, motor home, boat, motorcycle, or other vehicle you no longer use, please consider donating it to LVNC. If the vehicle is inoperative, arrangements can be made to remove it for you. We work with an organization that auctions the vehicles and gives us the proceeds, minus a small handling charge. Your vehicle donation is tax-deductible to the limits allowed by law. Call us at 433-7014 for details on how to donate a vehicle.
  • Host a Fund Raising Event: Many people like to host events in support of a favorite charity. The events can be as elaborate as a golf tournament or as simple as donating the proceeds from a garage sale. Contact us if you have an idea for a fundraising event you’d like to hold in support of LVNC.

Illiteracy costs all of us. Your contributions to Literacy Volunteers will help us teach more adults to read, write, and speak English.
